Meet Sophie. When I open my eyes in the morning, her eyes are watching me. Often she loves nothing more than to be nose-to-nose with me, looking into my eyes as I stroke her little beard. She doesn't lick; she just looks. As some have said to me, "It must be nice to be so adored." And of course, it is. And it goes both ways. She's totally laid back...as long as she has me in her sight.
Sophie came to me with an open heart and a lot of baggage.Trouble is: her eyesight isn't very good. Once I'm out of sight, she charges around the house or yard searching for me frantically, even though it's only been a couple of minutes. In her rush to find me, sometimes she runs right past me without noticing. How often do I do the same thing: search so frantically that I miss what is right in front of me?
This Pocket Prayer I dedicate to Sophie. I like to say this is her favorite Bible verse. In truth, she is not the only one who finds comfort in being reassured. Here it is:
