When we used to argue as kids, my father would say in his deep, quiet voice, "Be nice." I often hear his words in my head. This scarf is another way of saying the same thing only hopefully coming from our essence rather than putting on a behavior and extending that kindness to ourselves as well. 

Display as a prayer flag or wear as the mood strikes you.

Boundaries

One of my original Monkeyminders says: Clear good-byes make room for clear hello's."

What a fun and colorful way to say good-bye to whatever is no longer useful in my life, most of which is my internal chatter. I call it "Boundaries." It surprised me to FEEL the growing sense of clarity the more I painted. I'm making room for many more "YES's" in 2012. Thank you, Carol, for reminding me that setting boundaries and saying NO does not have to be hard or ugly but can be beautiful and empowering.

Christmas Eve service at Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church was amazing. Sacred dance, holy music, and the call to remember to be the voice of Love to others.

A year or so ago at the same church, a visiting church leader gave a compelling talk. I don't remember his name, but his message moved me to create this silk painting. He said that we as individuals, as a community, and as a church should live in such a way that the world looks on and KNOWS that "love grows here." This has certainly been my experience at this amazing church community. I am deeply grateful for the heartfelt welcome I have received there.
